Dr. Islam is a proud United States Navy veteran and a retired Captain (Colonel) in the US Naval Reserve Medical Corps. He is a board certified specialist who has training in medicine, psychiatry, neurology, and psychosomatic medicine. Dr. Islam was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry from 1978 to 2003 at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, LA and from 2002 to 2010 served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Vanderbilt School of Medicine.
